The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja (L) at the UFZA stall during the Uganda – UAE Business Forum that was held at Speke Resort Munyonyo from 10th – 13th October 2023.
UFZA participated and exhibited at the Uganda – United Arab Emirates Business Forum that was held at Speke Resort and Conference Center Munyonyo, Kampala. The Forum, which was in its second edition was held from 10th – 13th October 2023, under the theme “Uganda, the gateway of the UAE to the EAC region”.
The annual event, aimed at attracting Foreign Direct Investment, promoting Uganda’s exports in UAE, promoting tourism, attracting technology, and projecting a positive image of Uganda. Furthermore, the forum sought to mobilize private and public investments in priority sectors in Uganda by presenting the investment opportunities offered by the country to UAE investors.
The forum was graced by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Honorable Rashid Abdu Karim, the Under-secretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED). The President rallied the Emiratis to invest in Uganda as the best investment destination in East Africa with its flourishing potential and strategic location.
Speaking during the forum, The President projected that the estimated population of Africa would be 2.5 Billion by 2050, and this population will simultaneously provide a huge market for large investments in its 12 million square miles of Land. “Opportunely, Uganda’s Agro-processing sector is very rich in grains, milk, beef, and fruits and forests, among others” he added.
Uganda has the fastest growing economy in East Africa with a GDP of over US$ 40.43 billion. The country is also endowed with abundant resources ranging from minerals to fertile soils for agriculture among others. UFZA is pivotal in creating an enabling environment for export-oriented investment and job creation through the provision of tax incentives to investors.
