The Executive Director of UFZA applauded the district leadership for being foresighted and taking the right decision to bring economic development to their district. “Free Zones spur economic development where they are located through creating backward and forward linkages”, he said. He added that over the years, countries have relied on Free Zones /Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to boost their productivity, attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), increase exports and create jobs.
The Authority is planning to survey the land and undertake a feasibility study to determine the viable sectors to operate in the Free Zone.
