UFZA SHOWCASES AT THE 28TH INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR AT

UFZA showcased at the 28th International Trade Fair at the UMA Show grounds. The annual event that is organised by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) happened after a 2 year halt due to Covid-19 lockdown and it marked the 28th International Trade Fair, under the theme “harnessing economic recovery through local sourcing and deepening value chain integration”.

The Trade Fair attracted over 800 local exhibitors and about 120 international exhibitors as well as several Government Ministries and Agencies. It was graced by the Prime Minister of the Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja who represented H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda. The President noted that government through its various bodies has put in place a conducive environment which has enabled the manufacturers to carry out their business successfully.

“I congratulate all the groups and individuals who have participated in this year’s trade fair in which they have exhibited Uganda’s potential as a powerful industrial and business hub in East Africa and Africa at large. Uganda’s industrial journey is unstoppable and government will continue providing the required business friendly environment for both local and foreign investors,” said H.E Museveni.

Speaking at the event, The Chairman of UMA, Mr. Deo Kayemba called upon the government to embrace local sourcing of public procurement for government contracts thereby supporting local suppliers. He further urged the government to consider subsidies for the domestic investors who are over burdened by taxes to enable the long term growth of the economy.
