UFZA HOSTS A BLOOD DONATION DRIVE

Well-wishers donate blood during the fourth annual blood donation drive at Communications House on 14th February 2023

Uganda Free Zones Authority (UFZA) sponsored a blood donation drive in partnership with Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS) under the theme, “Share the love, save a life”.

Blood and blood products are essential resources for effective management of women suffering from bleeding associated with pregnancy and childbirth; children suffering from severe anemia due to malaria and malnutrition; patients with blood and bone marrow disorders, inherited disorders of hemoglobin and immune deficiency conditions; victims of trauma, emergencies, and accidents; as well as patients undergoing advanced medical and surgical procedures. The need for blood is universal, but access to blood for all those who need it is not. Since blood cannot be manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished by generous blood donors.

Doreen Kembabazi, the Senior Public Relations Officer at UFZA urged Ugandans to always embrace blood donation campaigns, to save lives. ‘Our clients are into export-oriented investment. But we also know that it is a healthy community that invests. So blood donation is a very important element of that community because you never know when you actually need blood. It could be you, your relative or anyone else. We sponsor the blood donation as part of our corporate social responsibility’ she said.
