Uganda Free Zones Authority (UFZA) led by the Chairman Board of Directors, Eng. Peter Balimunsi engaged with the Commissioners and Top Management of Uganda Land Commission (ULC). The engagement was aimed at presenting the strategic contribution of the Free Zones to the export-led growth of Uganda’s economy and to deliberate on the synergies with ULC in utilizing government land for national development. The meeting was held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on 8th February 2023.
During the engagement, a presentation on the Free Zones Scheme was delivered and areas of collaboration between the two agencies were teased out and discussed. The Commission committed to support the Authority to acquire strategic land for the establishment of Comprehensive Model Free Zones.
It was also agreed that an Inter-Agency committee should be constituted to further the discussions and oversee the implementation of decisions.
