Investors wishing to join the Free Zones program are classified into three categories depending on the nature of business they undertake. The categories are Developers and Operators
1. Developer’s Licence
This license is provided to Investors who are investing in infrastructure development like construction of industrial buildings and warehouses, development of internal roads, landscaping and fencing, as well as provision of utilities like power, water, sewerage systems and telecommunications.
2. License for Operators
There are two types of licences provided to operators:
a) Manager’s License: This licence is granted to a business enterprise which will undertake management of a free zone.
b) Operator’s License: This licence is granted to a business enterprise authorising it to carry out any service or other industry including manufacturing or processing commercial activities like breaking bulk, re-packaging, re-labelling and trading; export-oriented services like brokerage, information, consultancy and repair services; ICT and other related services.
