Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau is an autonomous statutory body established to, among others, register and incorporate business entities in Uganda.

Under Section 25.3 of the Free Zones Act, 2014, “A developer shall be a company incorporated or registered in Uganda for the sole purpose of developing and operating a free zone”.

Ministry of Internal Affairs, Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control

The Directorate is responsible for, among other duties, issuing work permits and visas. All foreign nationals intending to work in Uganda, must ensure that they are in possession of the relevant work permit.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)

The Free Zones scheme is generally outside the customs territory but URA is mandated to support investors in Free Zones and ensure compliance to the specified export thresholds. URA is also responsible for assessment and collection of specified revenue as well as administration and enforcement of laws relating to such revenue, as they relate to Free Zones.

National Environment Management Authority

UFZA is committed to conserving the environment. Before a license is granted to any investor, one of the requirements is the environmental impact assessment study on the area.
